About Us

  • Friday Night Place

Friday Night Place (FNP) is open to all students currently enrolled in 5th-8th grade. Open gym takes place each Friday afternoon from 3:30-5:30 pm at Julian Middle School: 416 S Ridgeland, Oak Park, IL 60302

Students will be expected to master the 3-A’s for their success:

ATTENDANCE + ATTITUDE + ACADEMICS = POSITIVE ACHIEVEMENT

This program is FREE to students in the Oak Park/River Forest community

Friday Night Place has been providing an after-school program in Oak Park for the last 28 years. Primarily partnering with Julian Middle School, boys, and girls in 5th-8th grade have had a safe place to go on Fridays to get a workout, to receive mentoring and some academic support. This program has expanded to include providing community support to families, behavioral support for students in crisis, and the implementation of in-home software to provide ongoing educational support through Edmentum learning support.

Three years ago, we started a partnership with Covenant Youth Collision (CYC) to provide ongoing spiritual support to students as well as consulting with our team to strengthen our summer day camp program. Through our partnership with CYC, we were introduced to the Thamani Counseling Center which brought their wisdom and mental health care to support families in crisis within the Oak Park community. Through these partnerships, we are able to provide a holistic approach to both family and student care, Mind, Body, and Spirit.

We would like to extend some intentional and additional support to your family over the school. If you choose to participate in this program over the course of the school year, we would expect you/your child to be present at a minimum of 90% of the following programming elements.

    Weekly Afterschool Play for Students

Diagnostic of mental/behavioral / academic needs to assess services needed for IEP/504 plans

    Weekly Family support groups

Family & Individual and Couples Counseling

Weekly spiritual & emotional development and care

Daily in-home educational support through Edmentum learning solutions software

Monthly family gatherings to play together

    Monthly parenting workshops

In order to participate we would need permission from you to have regular contact with the school administrative team and your child(rens) teachers to provide a stronger network of support to both you and your child(ren).

You can email: fellowshipcom@gmail.com or call (708) 386-5790 with any questions.

  • HISTORY

FCS, which is located at 1106-1110 Madison Street in Oak Park, Illinois, began as a community program for Oak Park youth called Friday Night Place (FNP). This program, which was originally developed through a partnership between Fellowship Christian Church, the "Youth Services" Oak Park/River Forest Township, and school District 97, has been in operation since 1995. FNP provides a range of wholesome, safe, social, recreational, and cultural activities for youth ages 11 - 14. This program continues to serve 55-65 middle school youth on a weekly basis, is partially funded by the "Youth Services" Oak Park/River Forest Township Services in partnership with Oak Park School District 97.

In response to the success of this program, FCS has expanded its services to youth and their families. Through its counseling programs, mentoring programs and other community-based services FCS has impacted the lives of many youth and their families. In addition to these services, FCS has a history of partnerships with local school districts, police departments, and other community based organizations.
